ESPA is a student-led volunteering society partnered with international non-profit organisation Global Brigades. Our goal is to provide volunteer opportunities which focus on delivering sustainable health and development solutions in under-resourced communities worldwide. We implement Global Brigades' holistic model and approach to empowering communities, working with our partner communities in Central America, Africa and Greece.
During the year, we prepare for our volunteer brigades through fundraising, team-building and educational sessions (language sessions, medical skills and discussions on relevant topics such as ethical volunteering and current global issues). This year, we are planning a medical brigade to Greece, to help with the Refugee Crisis, and a legal empowerment brigade to Honduras. GB's TeleBrigade programs, developed as a way of providing continued support to communities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, enable students to volunteer virtually if they are unable to volunteer in-person.
