Welcome to LangSoc!

The Edinburgh University Linguistics and English Language Society is a society for appreciation, study, conversation, etc. of language.

The society was restarted in 2009 by students who wanted to have an undergraduate forum for linguistics that extended beyond the classroom to provide support, friendship, and community.

Check out our website for more details! Information about past and present events, committees, resources, and more.

What do we do?

We have a variety of events and services, among others:

Academic Lectures: We hold fortnightly lectures on a variety of topics in Linguistics. Check out our website to see what we’ve had in the past.

Socials: We hold socials every other week when there is no lecture. These can vary from boardgame nights to

pub wug crawls.

Academic Support: Other than FamiLing, we also often hold study sessions around exam-time.

See our current events page for details of this semester's activities, and visit links to find out how to join, where else to find us, and other important information.
