The Student was founded by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1887 making it the UK's oldest student newspaper. A number of famous faces have started their careers writing for The Student but it is more than just a stepping stone for would-be journalists and there is genuinely something for everyone. There are opportunities for writers and reporters, photographers, copy-editors, illustrators, graphic designers and business minded students wanting to organise the newspaper's advertising and marketing deals.
Our writers meetings are held every Tuesday in Teviot's Debating Hall at 1.15pm.
It's not all hard work and we have weekly socials every Tuesday evening.
There are weekly meetings throughout the semester so please check back here before Freshers Week in September for more details or send us an email.
