Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I log into the website?
To purchase items from the online shop you first need to login. Click the 'Login' button in the top left corner and enter your EASE (university login) details. If you are unable to login using your EASE details you can create a guest login using an alternative email address.
A guest confirmation email will be sent to the email address you have used. Can’t find your confirmation email? Try looking in your junk folder!
2. I've tried to login with my new EASE account details but I get an error message. Can you help?
If you are a new student trying to login with your EASE account details then you may receive an error signing into the Students' Association website until later in the summer.
The University is still finalising all the EASE accounts and Edinburgh University Students' Association isn't given final account information until everything is sorted on their end. In the meantime create a Guest Login to get your Welcome Week Wristband or Bundle.
3. What's my Guest Login Username?
Your Guest Login Username is your email address. If you are still having problems logging in email email@example.com.
Welcome Week Wristband
1. How do I purchase a Welcome Week Wristband?
Wristbands cost £42 and are available at our online shop. Look out for great value bundles combining your wristband with University of Edinburgh t-shirts, hoodies, stationery packs and NUS Extra cards!
When you buy a wristband online, you can collect it from Pollock Halls on Saturday 9 or Sunday 10 September, or from the Welcome Week Box Office in Teviot Row House garden any day during Welcome Week.
Bundles can only be bought in advance while stocks last, and will be ready for you to pick up from the Welcome Week Box Office in Teviot Row House garden, which is open throughout Welcome Week. You can also buy wristbands from the Welcome Week Box Office or Pollock Halls Box Office when you arrive.
2. What happens if I lose my Welcome Week Pass?
Treat your pass with care! Your pass is non-refundable and if you lose it you won't be able to get into evening events and some daytime events. Unfortunately we are unable to replace lost passes so please keep it somewhere safe until you come to University.
And remember, you need to wear your wristband all week so don’t pull the clasp too tight!
Welcome Week Bundles
1. What's the difference between a Welcome Week Bundle and Welcome Week Wristband?
We have four Welcome Week Bundles available through the Welcome Week Online Shop.
All bundles contain a Welcome Week Wristband but then you also get an NUS Extra Card (worth £12) and either an NUS Extra Card, Stationery Pack, University of Edinburgh T-shirt or University of Edinburgh Hoody at a discounted price.
NUS Extra Cards
1. What is an NUS Extra Card? Why should I get one?
All four bundles include an NUS Extra card which gives you access to over 170 discounts on things you will need on a regular basis.
When you purchase an NUS Extra Card as part of a Bundle, you will be e-mailed a unique voucher code to use on the NUS Extra website where you can upload your photo for your card.
2. Why should I buy an NUS Extra card in a Bundle and not direct from NUS?
If you buy an NUS Extra card as part of any of our Welcome Week bundles you save £1 (basically getting one month free)!
3. Why did I receive a separate email with a Voucher Code for my NUS Extra card?
Even though you purchased your NUS Extra card in a Welcome Week Bundle, you still redeem it through NUS Extra (like Groupon).
This way you get it for £11 instead of £12. All you need to do is follow the link provided in the email, enter your code and follow the instructions.
4. How do I get my NUS Extra card?
When redeeming your voucher code, NUS will ask you for some details and then you can collect it from the Welcome Week Box Office in Teviot Garden between 9-16 September, 9am-9pm.
If you can’t collect your NUS Card during Welcome Week, you can pick it up from Potterrow Reception Monday to Friday between 9.30am-5pm, from Monday 18 September.
You must collect your card as they cannot be delivered to your home address.
PLEASE NOTE: Your NUS Extra card is valid from the date you redeem your code but you will still be able to use your details for online discounts including Amazon and National Express but obviously you won't be able to flash it in the shops until you get your card.
Welcome Week Admission Policy
Entry for Welcome Week Pass Holders
A valid and complete Welcome Week Pass grants free entry to all the union events. The union buildings when there are no specific events running will still be open to everyone during the duration of Welcome Week.
A Welcome Week Pass does not guarantee entry to every event. Admission is subject to venue capacity, please bear this in mind and arrive early to events you wish to attend.
A Welcome Week Pass is not proof of ID. If you want to purchase alcohol in union buildings you will still need photographic ID such as a driving licence, passport or anything bearing a PASS logo.
Entry for Students without a Welcome Week Pass
Individuals without a Welcome Week Pass will be able to gain entry to events, however there will be a charge per event (see individual event listing in the What's On Guide for price).
The Welcome Week Pass is designed to save you money if you wish to attend more than two or three events during the week and is recommended. Individuals without a Welcome Week Pass are not guaranteed entry to union events on any nights during Welcome Week.
1. I am going to be 17 in September. Can I still attend the Welcome Ball and other night events?
It is not necessary during Welcome Week, or any other time of year, for matriculated University of Edinburgh Students to prove that they are over 18 to gain entry to our venues. However you are required to carry proof of age with you if you wish to purchase or consume alcohol. Acceptable forms of proof of age are - current, valid EU driver’s license, current, valid passport and ID with ‘Pass Logo’.
Only over 18s can drink or buy alcohol in our venues, all visitors will have their age checked upon entry to the building and those over 18 will be issued a wristband to buy alcohol.
2. Can my friend who attends another University / is not a student come to events at Edinburgh University Welcome Week?
Welcome Week is open for new students at University of Edinburgh only.
