Trans and Non-Binary Campaign
The Trans and Non-Binary Campaign exists to provide a safe space within Edinburgh University Students' Association where self-identifying trans and non-binary students can come together, discuss the issues affecting them, and campaign to improve their student experience.
The Trans and Non-Binary Campaign is led by the Students' Association's Trans and Non-Binary Officer. This year's Trans and Non-Binary Officer is Elliot Byrom, who was elected by self-defining trans and non-binary students in the Students' Association's March elections.
All self-identifying trans and non-binary students are welcome to get involved in the Trans and Non-Binary Campaign. To find out more you can join the Facebook group, email email@example.com, or come along to one of the Campaign's events.
Campaigns and Events
You can read Elliot's full manifesto which he was elected on here but the issues he is planning to focus on this year are:
- Building a community of trans and non-binary students and staff at Edinburgh.
- Working with existing projects to ensure that all staff have access to training and resources on issues impacting trans and non-binary students.
- Strengthen the University’s Dignity and Respect Policy to ensure groups, as well as individuals, are protected from harassment and discrimination.
Each year during February, the LGBT+ Campaign leads the Students' Association's LGBT+ History Month celebrations, organising panel discussions, film screenings, and social events. If you'd like to be involved in arranging 2020's programme, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Students' Association has produced a short guide to pronoun use for allies which you can find here.
The University has a map of gender neutral toilets on campus which you can find here.
