The President represents students at all levels of study to the University and beyond across a range of issues such as tuition fees, student funding and international student visas. They are also the spokesperson for the Students’ Association on non-academic University issues, working on matters relating to public affairs and press management, membership communication, internal Students’ Association operations, University estates, and the Students’ Association Strategic Plan.
Past achievements in this role have included securing funding for the participation grant, and successfully lobbying for the introduction of a 9 month student Ridacard.
A key aspect to all the Sabbatical Officer roles is also ensuring that students are engaged with and involved in developing and implementing the Students’ Associations projects, policies and campaigns, and that students are consulted with to ensure that the organisation is representing their views on issues which affect them.
