If you self-define as BME and are passionate about making a real difference to the lives of students like you, why not stand to be our BME Officer for 2019/20?
The BME Campaign exists to provide a safe space within Edinburgh University Students' Association where self-identifying BME students (including those of African, Asian, Arab and Afro-Caribbean descent) can come together, discuss the issues affecting them, and campaign to improve their student experience.
As BME Officer you’ll have the opportunity to work on issues like the Black Attainment Gap, microaggressions, and decolonising the curriculum. You’ll also take a lead in organising a programme of events for Black History Month in October.
To see what the BME Campaign has been up to this year, check out the Liberation Campaigns’ Facebook page and the BME Students at the University of Edinburgh Facebook group. For more information you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In recognition of the work our Liberation Officers do, and the additional barriers they may face in taking up student representative roles, each Officer receives an honorarium of £1,200 which is paid in three payments across the year.
