The European Union Society is a society focusing on Europe and the EU. Founded in 2012, we provide a forum for debate and discussion on all aspects of the EU, Europe, its states and peoples at the University of Edinburgh. We welcome everyone; regardless of whether you come from an EU member state, Britain or anywhere else in the world.
We are an academic society – the society itself doesn’t take views on these issues. Instead, our aim is to foster an environment where students can express their opinions, debate these topics and learn more about them.
We welcome all viewpoints and our events cover all areas of expertise. Whether you have dedicated your life to the subject or just have a passing interest, there’s a place for you in the society.
What do we do?
- We host various academic, social and career events about the EU, UK and world politics
- We provide our members with development and career opportunities
- We write our own blog on the rights of the EU-based citizens in the UK
We have already offered a broad range of activities, including lectures, panels, forums, conferences and debates. We have hosted Scottish Government ministers, Members of the Scottish Parliament, Members of the European Parliament, ambassadors, academics, students and campaigners.
Please feel free to come along to one of our events, like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter. Feel free to contact us by writing on EUSocietyEdinburgh@gmail.com
