The SBMS Scheme offer both peer led academic support through their "PALS" sessions as well as pastoral and social peer support led by their Academic Families Leaders.

The SBMS Academic families is tailored to cover the concerns of the first year student body. Each individual family has around 10 students and is led by two trained volunteers from later year groups. The student attendees propose the themes of each meeting, and there is always time to ask questions.

You can find advice on issues as varied as:
 Course selection
Transition to university
Settling into halls
Finding part-time employment
Balancing your studies and social life
Finding the best places to go out
Using MyEd and Learn
And more!

Where and When?
We meet 2-3 times each semester, with occasional add-on sessions. The meeting times and places are chosen by each individual group, to fit easily around the students' studies and in a relaxed setting.

Similarly the SBMS PALS Scheme is tailored to student needs, this time focussing on your academic lifecycle. Student Leaders will organise sessions that allow you to  consolidate your learning as well as share experience of your course. This is not an addition or replacement to any teaching, rather a space for you to join a community of your academic peers. For details of sessions please keep an eye out here or on the website linked above.
