EdQSoc was founded by drawing on the experiences, perspectives and qualifications of students from various academic backgrounds with the aim of providing a forum for exchange around quantitiative methods, data science, big data, social analytics and other related areas both within the university and via the wider national Q-Step framework.
As the first of its kind in the UK, the society was set up with help from the University's Q-Step Centre in order to promote an increase in quantitative social science training. We aim to incentivise social science students to get involved in quantitative research by providing academic support in the form of workshops and guest lectures and by equipping members with important industrial links.
We also seek to not only create a community among students studying "with Quantitative Methods" degree programmes but to expand this to the wider student body. Concurring with this, we aim to host socials in addition to our more academically focused events. Join us for plenty of drinks and trips to Hive!
