The results are in for our first ever Student Council Online Ballot, where 1,913 votes were cast on the motion on “Nap Pods and Rest Facilities”, which was discussed at the Student Council meeting on 24/11/16.
The results are as follows:
Votes for: 1,616
Votes against: 286
The motion is therefore carried, meaning that students have voted for the Students’ Association to endorse proposals for the Buchanan Institute to discuss provision of rest facilities with the University, who will take any further decisions on implementation. Our Sabbatical Officers will provide updates on activity on this motion as part of their standard accountability reports to Student Council.
Student Council Online Ballots are a way of involving as many students as possible in campus decision making, and a new measure introduced as part of the package of improvements to our democracy approved by students in a referendum in spring 2016. Remember that all students are welcome to attend and vote at Student Council, and can also submit motions and ideas for consideration.
