Edinburgh University Students' Association is looking to recruit a Festival Venue Operations Manager to join our Festival Business team.
Salary: Freelance contract weekly rate £160-£200 per day.
Hours: 6 days per week during festival.
Contract: Fixed Term-15th July 2019 to 27th August 2019.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the 3rd largest event in the world and every year thousands of performers take to the stage to perform and entertain in theatre, cabaret, comedy music and dance. Over the 27 days the Edinburgh University Student Association partners with two of the big four creative teams Pleasance Theatre Trust and Gilded Balloon, to showcase some of the best shows and performances the Fringe has to offer with 3 venues- Pleasance Courtyard, Pleasance Dome, Teviot Row House (Gilded Balloon).
The Festival Venue Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of a specific venue on behalf of Edinburgh University Student Association, during the Festival season. Lead the team to deliver outstanding customer service, experience and support the income targets of the bars and catering outlet. This includes liaising and overseeing the relevant internal teams including Duty Managers, Venue Operations, Bars, Catering and Security, as well as being the initial point of contact for all external suppliers and partners.
The post holder will be the key contact for all suppliers, partners, and internal departments working closely with bars, catering, events and estates, to ensure that all of our needs and those of our partners are met at each venue location. The post holder will oversee the build and break of the venue, working closely with the estates, set-up and festival manager to ensure a smooth, safe and successful build/ break period. During the Festival they will be the direct link between the Festival Manager and the partners of each venue.
The post is an integral part of the management team, and the focus for managing the venue, ensuring excellent customer service and safety during the long festival period and overseeing delivery of the highest standards via our operations team. The Venue Operations manager will oversee the daily management of the build and derig of all festival operations in addition to the key periods of the fringe festival itself.
This post will report direct to the Festival Business Manager on a daily basis but will work across all festival teams, maintain records of all activity, scheduling and any incidents in the venues.
An enthusiastic, confident and extremely competent manager with demonstrable experience of site management combined within customer-facing role and experience of the operations of bars and catering outlets. A customer focused individual with a consistently professional approach to their duties and keen attention to detail. A person with a proactive approach to the role, good level of experience in the events, festivals or hospitality industry with a passionate understanding for good customer service.
