This is a one off volunteering opportunity as part of the Student Associations' Volunteering Day on Wednesday 1st March in collaboration with Positive Help.
Helping Positive Help’s HIV and hepatitis C positive service users in their own homes with tasks such as cleaning, decluttering, re-organising a room, or even painting and DIY etc.
An organised home can make all the difference to someone’s confidence and self-esteem, particularly when they are going through hard times. Home Supporters work as a team to provide meaningful support to clients through decluttering, painting, gardening, and general cleaning.
You will be matched with an existing volunteer or worker. Home Supporters work as small teams to restore dignity and comfort to clients who are struggling to maintain their homes due to illness or chaotic factors. Tasks include cleaning, decluttering, gardening and painting.
Students will gain valuable insight into the personal effects of HIV and Hep C on clients, and also be providing significant support to those individuals. This is a more social role and would be of interest to those looking to work in care or simply give back to their community.
Training will be provided by Positive Help.
