Join the international student centre on a must do day trip to the historical city of Durham! Durham, situated in the North East of England, is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery and sites that the UK has to offer. The city is home to the UNESCO World Heritage site, made up of the Durham Cathedral along with Durham Castle, two historically significant locations that have been visited for centuries. The Cathedral, built in 1093 to house the shrine of St. Cuthbert, is known for it’s magnificent Romanesque architecture while the Castle, erected in 1072 under the guidance of William the Conqueror, has been featured in films/shows such as Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.

Along with these incredible architectural sites, Durham city itself is full of incredible cafés, boutiques and museums, with the River Wear which flows through the city providing a picturesque place to enjoy lunch or a relaxing walk.

So join the ISC as we explore Durham’s cobbled streets and world heritage sites together!
