Book Discussion: Femicide

Fri 26 February 2021 17:00-18:30

A discussion about Femicide and its relation to State Security. With the rate at which women are being killed raising around the world, it is not only important to know what is going on but also how this links to wider issues such as peace between nations. On Friday we will be discussing what Femicide is, how and where it happens and we will also be talking about the groundbreaking book Sex and World Peace which argues that violence against women is one of the strongest indicators of how likely a nation is to be involved in conflict and war. If you want to read this book it can be found through the Library website (search for Sex and World Peace by Valerie M. Hudson). We will discuss pages 1-6 as well as Chapter 4 ‘The heart of the Matter’ (there is no need to read all of this or any at all in order to attend the event but it may help move the discussion along!)
