As part of LGBT+ History Month, the team behind Poetry and Power are delighted to be hosting Travis Alabanza, a London-based performance artist, theatre maker, poet and writer, who has been hailed by artsy, id and Mobo_Awards as one of the most prominent emerging in queer arts activism today. Their book of poetry ‘Before I step Outside (you love me),’ released in 2017, has been shipped to over nineteen countries worldwide and was listed as one of the top trans literary books of 2017.
Travis will be giving a talk on poetry as a source of personal and political power, and perform some of their poetry. They'll afterwards be in-conversation with Edinburgh-based organiser and PhD researcher Jessica Brough (@Jessica_Brough), discussing how poetry can be a vehicle of liberation and transformation.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite for £4.
