Language, Culture and Mental Wellbeing

Fri 16 November 2018 10:00-10:50

Room G43, Paterson's Land, Moray House School of Education

Join students and staff for an interactive workshop exploring variation in cultural attitudes towards mental health and wellbeing.

We'll be discussing different linguistic and cultural understandings of terms related to mental health including stress, counselling, depression and culture shock. The facilitators - who have expertise in the area of intercultural understanding - will also share their own experiences of communicating about mental health and wellbeing in a second language and different culture.

There will be lots of opportunities for participants to share their own thoughts and ask questions.
