Enjoy sun, songs, sizzling BBQ food and a selection of summer drinks at this year’s Teviot Garden Party on Friday 25 May, featuring live music from local acts Irie Yo-Yo, Mellow Chants, Berta Kennedy, Nem and Lively Vibrations.
The food offer on the day will be a selection of mouth watering burgers.
Irie Yo-Yo are a seven piece ska/reggae band based in Edinburgh debuting in 2015 at the Edinburgh Food Festival. Since then, they have been gigging non-stop at an array of venues including The Mash House, Cabaret Voltaire, Stramash Edinburgh, The Cowshed, Studio 24 and Malone's, wowing crowds along the way.
Irie Yo-Yo have also secured multiple residencies, including over twenty shows during the world renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Mellow Chants is the product of a group of men women from different continents coming together to start a collective. Three Africans: Zimbabwe, Sudan and Mozambique; an incredible Maltese, a Chilean plus an Argentinian representing Sur de America and a Greek adding a Mediterranean touch.
The band delivers an expressive fusion of exciting music inspired by different cultures adding to the positive vibration of Rasta. Noble Energetic Reggae Music, Ska, Raggamuffin, Afro-Latin beat led by conscious lyrics and beautiful harmonies.
Berta Kennedy is a composer/singer-songwriter taking influence from R'n'B and Alt Rock. With the experience of fronting a four-piece girl band, she explores feminine and poetic themes, whilst captivating her audience with memorable melodies.
NEM is a vinyl selector and singer based in Scotland. She is well known throughout the UK for her good vibe selections and regularly performs at events such as Boomtown, The Wee Dub Festival, Eden, Solfest, Beat Hearder, Insider and Kelburn Garden Party and Woodland Dance Project.
NEM has performed alongside many artists including The Abyssinians, Julian Marley, Dillinger, Mungo's Hi Fi, Riddim Tuffa, Mighty Oak Sound System, Bliss Zion and Channel One. Her first release as a singer is ‘Purest Force’ with the Scottish based roots sound system, Mighty Oak.
Lively Vibrations are a brand new reggae music group project. Expect Bob Marley covers and well known riddims infused with funk and soul. This spin-off project is brought to you by reggae DJ crew Edinburgh Roots Collective, who will be playing an afterparty until 3am at Teviot Underground using their own special soundsystem.
