I'm going into my third year, studying International Relations and International Law. I’m a member of GEAS, and I’m interested in what gaming communities can achieve, both within the student body and with the local community at large. I personally enjoy being involved in being a representative for communities outside of the university and have experience in this role.
If elected, I will seek to connect students with the wider Edinburgh community, matching our societies to groups who would offer them opportunities within the growing industry in Scotland, whether that was careers advice, sponsorships or even just awareness of paths available. Collaboration between societies is also much-needed – I'd seek to help co-ordinate and host events and facilitate communication on common issues.
I’m a strong believer in student-led movements, and societies have a role to play in those, too, whether that’s through campaigning for better access to services such as support for mental health, and facilities on campus, on industrial action, or on social matters, pressuring the university and EUSA to hold itself to better standards on accessibility, diversity, inclusion and representation, which is unquestionably sorely needed.
