About Me:

Hi everyone, I’m Tom, a 1st year Chinese and Linguistics student who is passionate about the creative arts, singing and orchestral playing. I am a member of the University’s Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra, whilst representing my a cappella group on the society committee. I also have experience in external musical theatre productions such as West Side Story.

I think we can all agree that our groups are thriving and are so much fun to be a part of. I believe it is crucial that we maintain this positive, welcoming atmosphere amongst our groups, so that they can continue to provide great opportunities for creative fun for many years to come! Furthermore, I strongly believe that every society matters, no matter how big or small, and I will strive to make sure every voice is heard in the Students’ Association.

Committee Experience

In my previous school, I was on the pupil leadership committee, attending weekly meetings to convey the thoughts and feelings of the student body. In this role I learnt to speak my mind and have my arguments recognised, whilst representing the thoughts of my peers and collaborating with the board. I am confident that I will succeed in doing the same for every group as Activities Representative (Music, Dance and Theatre).

Goals:

  • Listening to the ideas/suggestions of groups and societies and feeding these back to the Students’ Association. I will strive to argue your points for you

  • Help groups get access to funding and loans, so that we can support our activities and continue doing what we love

  • Raising the profile of these societies and make them open to everyone by introducing more stage performances at Activities Fairs and speakers/videos at welcome talks

  • Unite our disciplines with more social events across music, dance and theatre, with the aim of increasing inclusion and collaboration

Why vote for me?

  • I am eager to put all my time and energy into ensuring the representation of MUSIC, DANCE AND THEATRE in the student body

  • Being involved in many different societies, I am able to draw on all the best things from each group and use this experience to help others

  • I am a confident speaker and enjoy engaging with and reaching out to others. I love building connections, making sure societies have close bonds to the Students’ Association

  • I am passionate about giving our societies more recognition, giving us more members, larger audiences and therefore more fun performing

So vote for me and I can make this happen!
