About the Fund

 

The VIF was established to help you run the best projects you can, for your volunteers, beneficiaries and the wider community. Only projects that are local and hands-on volunteering activities will be granted funding.

 

You can apply for funding for any amount up to £500 to run creative, positive and effective volunteering projects. However, additional funding may be considered for exceptional projects.

 

This should be the first fund you apply for to help you run hands-on volunteering projects.

This fund is open to all students, Societies, Sports Clubs, Volunteering Groups,and University of Edinburgh Schools/Departments.

About the Fund

 

Have you got an ambitious project that will have a long-lasting impact on your society? Maybe it would be purchasing equipment, organising an epic event, or running some training? Applications are considered by members of the Societies Council.


Eligibility Criteria

 

The fund is open to societies and volunteering groups. Most activities or purchases that can demonstrate a long-lasting impact are covered. There is no specific scope or target group required – simply the more impact for more time the better.

 

There are restrictions on the amount granted depending on the nature of the activity or item. Please ensure to read through the Guidance Document accessible below for more information. Applications which do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered.

About the Grant

 

Student Experience Grants are fantastic one-off contributions of up to £5,000 to support innovative projects and initiatives that will enhance students’ social, academic, intellectual, entrepreneurial, sporting or cultural development.

 

Please note that Student Experience Grants are administered by the University of Edinburgh's Grants Team, part of the University of Edinburgh Development and Alumni department. The Students' Association has no direct involvement in the assessment or distribution of the Student Experience Grants, however you may be required to approach a department or team within the Students' Association to act as a referee for you. Please read the eligibility criteria and guidance documents below for more information.


Eligibility Criteria

 

You must be a matriculated student for the full duration of your project. This requirement may be waived for the final year students who are applying for funding through the Student Experience Grants scheme. Students can only receive one grant per academic year. Student societies, social enterprises and sports clubs can only receive one grant per academic year. Societies and social enterprises must be recognised by Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA). Every application must have a referee who will be contacted to support the application.

Fundraising

 


The University of Edinburgh has a dedicated fundraising portal called Fundraise Your Way which aims to enable groups and individuals to raise money for specific areas of the university, such as affiliated Students' Association Societies and Projects.

 

Through this service you can receive support for your fundraising activity and set up an online sponsorship page with all money raised going directly to your chosen Society or Project. Have a look at a fundraising pack here to find out more.

Raising And Giving (RAG) Week is an entire week dedicated to raising money for charity, packed with fundraisers supporting a variety of different causes.
