Community Outreach Ambassador

This opportunity takes place between 29 Apr 2019 and 22 Apr 2020.

Help more students to volunteer and connect with the community by: 1) working with staff to develop ways to, and actively raise awareness of the Volunteering Service, opportunities and events available; cascading key messages; promoting volunteering - face-to-face, online (social media, blog posts, film, etc.). 2) being aware of and up to date with volunteering initiatives and events on UoE campuses and encouraging other students to attend. 3) helping at/attending key volunteering events. 4) taking charge of organising and running a minimum of 1 community project and 1 volunteering event - creating new ways and a range of opportunities for students to volunteer in the local community 5) working as a team and on your own on the above and connecting with others to share best practice and ideas. Help shape the volunteering offer to students and create a community of volunteers. Gain HEAR recognition. The role runs during the academic year, and may include some summer planning. You will be required to attend a 2 hour training session at the start of the next academic year - depending on your availability.

Be a source of information and point of contact for students interested in volunteering Spread the word about volunteering Research, coordinate, run and evaluate: outreach, projects and events throughout the semester and during major campaign weeks Work alongside the Volunteering Service and Rep.

You will be given full training and support, including: -Project and events management -Communication skills -Access to other skills training workshops to develop your professional skills that may be of interest throughout the semester.

Outreach could be stalls/lecture shout-outs/presentations/talks, etc. Major campaign weeks are: Welcome Week, Mental Health and Wellbeing Week, Give It a Go, Volunteering Week, etc. You are expected to maintain open and ongoing communication on progress, changes, outcomes, feedback and issues.
