TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 35 years ago, TED has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. TEDxUoE is the University of Edinburgh’s official TEDx experience. We aim to put the extended Edinburgh community onto a new type of global activity map that is being watched, shared, and talked about by the world’s top thought leaders. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events which focus on an interdisciplinary transfer of knowledge, aiming to ignite curiosity, inspire action, present multiple issues and a diversity of voices from many disciplines.This year the committee is run by 10 dedicated students of the University of Edinburgh, who are keen to spread TED values alongside enthusiastic student ambassadors. 

As such, TEDxUoE hosts regular events throughout the year. Screenings and socials allow the wider TEDx community to get to know one another, whilst our salon events are an opportunity to discuss specific issues in a more intimate environment. 

 

Our 2 largest events of the 2016/17 academic year are as follows:

       Student Speaker Choice Awards:  (21st November 2016):

15 students from our very own university will take the stage to give their TED talks on diverse topics to inspire thought, conversation and action. No better topic than "It         starts with passion!..". The three best speakers will be determined by the audience and will go on to perform at the main conference in February.
