Ever been in a society like a choir, ensemble or music group? Ever had a desire to join a music society but not had the chance to or too nervous to try? Either way, we at the Law Music Society would be thrilled to meet you
Created in 2009, the society allows both lawyers and non-lawyers, students or otherwise, the chance to pursue their music interests in a relaxed and fun environment with no auditions. Weekly rehearsals and socials provide great opportunities to meet other law students, staff and alumni who all share a love for music and performing.
We currently have a choir, a strings group and an a capella group, but are keen to expand!
Semester 1 rehearsal times:
Choir: Tuesday, 7-9pm, Faculty Room, Alison House
A Cappella: Monday, 6.30-7.30pm, Lecture Room B, Alison House
Strings: Thursday, 6-7.30pm, Seminar Room, Alison House
We perform two concerts every year, the first at Christmas, featuring renditions of all those songs you know so well, and another around Easter-time. Both always prove to be popular and high-spirited events. At last year's spring concert, we performed songs such as Loch Lomond, This is Me (The Greatest Showman), Stand by Me, and a medley from Beauty and the Beast.
We also hold regular socials throughout the semester, particularly at Revolution, who offers discounts to members of the Law School Music Society.
Whether it's to showcase your musical talents or simply to make friends, the Law School Music Society has much to offer!
If you are keen to join, membership costs £5 per semster for students, and £10 for non-students. You can also sign up to our mailing list at bit.ly/lawmusic or follow us on Facebook. If you have any questions at all email us at email@example.com
We look forward to seeing you soon!
