At the Islamic Society (ISocEd), we aim to provide a space to meet and gather for all who are interested in Islam, Muslim or non-Muslim. We welcome students and staff from all backgrounds to any of our meetings or events, so make sure to join us and be kept up to date! Also like and check out our Facebook page, on which we are very active, linked here and also above.

Due to Covid-19, our initial events will all be online, but we will still do our absolute best to make you feel welcome, and enjoy your time at Edinburgh University, and at the Islamic Society. One positive is that for this academic year, our membership will be 50% off, as we realise online events are not quite the same as in-person ones!

Our first meeting of the new academic year will be on Wednesday 16th September, at 12pm BST, for a virtual Meet and Greet. This will be a great chance to meet other freshers, as well as older members of the society! We'll be there to answer any questions you have too, about Univeristy life, the society, or Edinburgh itself. We can't wait to meet all of you!

Our Membership also comes with many discounts among several shops and restaurants around Edinburgh. Due to Covid-19, this is taking a little longer to finalise, but do check this page often, as we'll be adding discounts over the next few months!

ISocEd was formed in 2001 to represent and unite the numerous Muslim students at Edinburgh Universtiy, by catering for their spiritual and social needs during their time here and beyond.

Additionally, we aim to promote a positive understanding of Islam and Muslims to the wider student body and the Edinburgh community through talks, discussions and more novel events.

Islam’s diversity is truly reflected in our society, where local and international students will feel right at home as we exchange the global greeting of Salaam: Peace.
