Founded by a group of passionate postgraduate students at the University of Edinburgh, InterSci aims to encourage conversations about science and technology.

We believe the best scientific innovations come from interdisciplinary work. We aim to encourage conversation and collaboration between scientists of different disciplines and members of the public. We provide a platform for experts to share their work and an opportunity to learn from others through our varied events.
We are a university society but, in the name of inclusivity and accessibility, our events are open to all.

MEMBERSHIP
Believing our events should be free of charge, we have previously operated on a donation basis. However, in order to be sustainable, we are now charging non-members a small amount for some events (see details below). All of our events are completely free for our members.
STUDENTS – £3
NON-STUDENTS – £5
Purchase membership easily online or at any of our events.

ASK A SCIENTIST
Costing just £2 for non-members and taking place fortnightly in Argyle Bar, Edinburgh, our main event features two experts who discuss their work or something they find interesting in science. (All in accessible terms thanks to our “No Jargon” rule.)

If you missed the last series of Ask a Scientist, don’t worry! Check out the photos from the last series and meet the scientists!

OTHER EVENTS
We run occasional workshops, for scientists to develop their public engagement skills, and discussion events where attendees have the opportunity to discuss contentious, controversial or upcoming areas of science. Previous discussions have been on human genome editing and nuclear power.
