Welcome to Girl Up Edinburgh!

Details of our upcoming events can be found here.

We are a student society at the University of Edinburgh, working in affiliation with Girl Up. Girl Up is a UN initiative aimed at providing girls with the resources and platform they need to start a movement for social change, no matter where they are in the world. It is a global movement of empowered young women leaders who defend gender equality - and you can be part of it too!

Our purpose is three-fold:

(1) Advocating and raising awareness of gender inequality on campus, in the UK and internationally

(2) Fundraising money to send to the UN Foundation to help fund projects empowering girls around the world

(3) Creating an inclusive, intersectional community on campus of like-minded feminists

We’re a very friendly and supportive society, and we’d love for you to join our community! You can join our society at any point in the semester so please do come along to our next event if you'd like to join us, details here.

We usually meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm in Appleton Tower, Room 2.14. This year we have a variety of events planned including advocacy workshops, film screenings, poetry slams, potlucks and regular socials. We are also launching our campaign on gender-based violence on Monday 7 October.

We can't wait to meet you! <3
