Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from health care. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Edinburgh Friends of MSF is a university society aiming to support the work of MSF International and is open to anyone who has an interest in doing so. We do this through fundraising but also by raising awareness of the work of MSF and global humanitarian issues and encouraging students to consider working for organisations such as MSF after graduating.
Whilst MSF is a medical organisation it requires the work of a number of skilled professionals encompassing a wide spectrum of people. These include doctors and nurses (alongside other medical professionals) but also logisticians, communication and business experts and many others! As such FoMSF welcomes anyone with an interest in MSF whether from a medical background or not. The society holds a number of events and functions throughout the year open to all, including non-members.
