BuddSoc is an open community providing support to students of Buddhist background, self-identifying Buddhists, and anyone who has an interest, personal or academic, in Buddhism - no experience necessary! We provide opportunities for like-minded people to hang out, discuss aspects of Buddhist philosophy and meditate together.
The society meets every Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 in the upstairs of the University Chaplaincy Centre (room 2). Meetings begin with a meditation, usually guided, followed by a topical presentation or discussion. On occasion, we also accomodate guest speakers, watch documentaries and host vegetarian meals. We are connected with other Buddhist groups and institutions in and beyond Edinburgh, providing a network of contacts and support for Buddhist students.
