Want to say 'BOLLOCKS TO POVERTY'? Excellent.
We are the youth branch of ActionAid, a global charity which not only deals with the effects of poverty but also works directly with communities to tackle the grass roots problems which keep people poor.
We don’t think ending poverty is just about chucking a few coins in a bucket, sending food parcels or feeling guilty. It’s about fighting injustice. One of the main campaign we have been running is trying to get the government to close tax loopholes as millions of pounds is siphoned out of developing countries this way.
We believe all humans have equal rights to food, education, security, healthcare and freedom of opinion. And where this isn’t a reality, we help ActionAid work with the people affected to change things, for good.
We want to do it differently! We put on events, exhibitions and club nights as well as ensuring we lobby MPs and educate all of Edinburgh's students. There are also loads of great opportunities like training sessions and volunteering at festivals over the summer. Got a new idea? We'll do it.
It's not about cake sales and coffee mornings.
We're looking for all sorts of people -campaigners, events organisers, fundraisers, musicians... Our society is a way of getting loads of people together with all sorts of talents, ideas and a determination to fight global issues.
We want you to ditch the guilt and say bollocks to poverty by doing something you love. There’s loads of ways to say bollocks to poverty.
Join us and help fight poverty doing something you love.
