Astrobiology draws on the disciplines of biology, chemistry, geology, physics and astronomy to study the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.
The University of Edinburgh Astrobiology Society (ABSoc) aims to:
- Increase awareness and interest among University of Edinburgh students for the fields of astrobiology and planetary science.
- Facilitate discussion about the ethical, social, economic and political issues involved in or potentially generated by planetary exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life.
- Bring interested students into contact with professional researchers in the field of astrobiology, and ultimately foster a culture of undergraduate research within The University of Edinburgh.
