The Edinburgh University GP Society will be trying to give you an insight to the different areas of this profession and show you that this profession is not just about sitting in a room everyday seeing the same patients over and over again. We will arrange several talks and tutorials per semester where we will have GPs giving us talks on their subjects. At these meetings you will have a chance to ask whatever you wanted to know about the profession and get insight to what being a GP is really about. In the past we have had great discussion groups with GPs that work with homeless people and drug seekeers. We have also had amazing talks with doctors that have suffered from drug addictions themselves. They told us about their stories and how they managed to get through this, even if it seemes impossible for us.
Anyone is welcome to join us and come to the events. We only ask that every memeber is respectful towards the others in the group and the speakers even if you have an extremely different opinion. Our meetings are always open for discussions and you are welcome to contribute some suggestions as to what kind of speakers you would like to see next. The meetings will be casual and we hope everyone will have a great time and learn new things.
