The R Sustainable Social Enterprise aims to provide a platform for conversation about material innovation in a wide variety of fields, from fashion, to chemistry, to engineering. We are interested in doing this through organising various events throughout the Academic year, exploring different art forms and have a specific focus on science and art collaboration.
We started off from the R Sustainable Fashion Shows in March 2018 & 2019, an exhibition and catwalk event which concentrated on the issues in the fashion industry and the future of new sustainable materials, showcasing both local and international designers. Exhibitors from our past events included products such as biodegradable hemp eye-wear, water-soluble sequins, recycled silver and jewellery made out of ocean plastic. We want to give consumers access to products that will help them navigate towards more conscious shopping choices.
As we are a platform run by students, we are keen on involving talented people who are looking for exposure, such as photographers, make up artists, DJ's, fashion designers, performers and many more. We are not concentrated solely on students and have reached out to people all over Scotland to get involved. Starting September 2019 we will be recruiting team members to organise a wide variety of events throughout the academic year. If you are interested in getting involved, please feel free to contact us!
