Get Involved!
There are number of ways that you can get involved with EUSA. 'Getting involved' is easy - everything from standing for election to just turning up at a meeting or getting involved in a EUSA campaign. There is no excuse - get involved!
Talk to eUSa!
Whether you are a Rep, a student with an idea but are not sure how to take it forward, or have an issue you would like EUSA to work/campaign on, please talk to us!
You can talk to the Sabbatical Officers, to your reps on the three Councils or to our Representation and Student Support staff, who are employed to support our reps and students to achieve their aims to improve the student experience.
Tell EUSA what to do and help us do it
Do you want to campaign on student funding? Do you have a burning concern about standards in Edinburgh University Accommodation? Whatever your issue, there is a way to take it forward, and we want you to tell us what we should be focusing on.
One way to take forward your issue is to talk to students with similar concerns and interests. There are three Student Councils with specific remits:
-
The Academic Council deals with all things related to your academic experience while you are a student at Edinburgh.
-
The Welfare Council works to improve student welfare and support at the University.
-
The External Affairs Council campaigns on issues external to the University but which have a huge impact on you while you are at Edinburgh.
-
Liberation and Action Groups
EUSA is committed to representing ALL sections of the Edinburgh student body. There are groups which exist to ensure that issues specific to the following groups are central to what EUSA does each year: Women, Disabled students and students with mental wellbeing issues, LGBT+ students, ethnic & minority students, postgraduate, international and mature students.
Get involved in these Liberation & Action Groups and find out what they are doing.
Stand for election
It is only by having active student representatives from across the University that we can be sure that EUSA represents the University of Edinburgh’s diverse student body.
As a student rep you get great experience, the opportunity to develop valuable (and transferable) skills, and make a real difference within the University and beyond.
Find out more about Class Reps, Sabbatical Officers and The Student Councils, and then consider standing for election!
Referenda
Referenda are the sovereign decision making mechanism of the Students' Association. If there is an issue that you care about and want EUSA to work on, you can put forward a referendum question to all your fellow 30,000 students at the University. If the referendum pases, EUSA will work on your issue!
Find out more about what kind of questions you can ask, how to put a referendum question forward on our referenda page!
Volunteer Opportunities
EUSA can help with volunteering opportunities. Find out more about the opportunities and support available on our volunteering page. There will also be opportunities to volunteer in the EUSA Advice Place.
