Edinburgh Buddies!
As an Edinburgh Buddy, you will be matched with one or more new international students before arrival. You will use your experience and knowledge of life at the University of Edinburgh to help them adjust during their first semester.
WHAT IS AN EDINBURGH BUDDY?
Undergraduate students who have returned from studying abroad are welcome to apply to be Edinburgh Buddies for students arriving in January.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
As an Edinburgh Buddy, you have an important role! We ask that you be a friendly face for your International Buddies and help them adjust to their new life at Edinburgh!
This is an informal scheme so there is no required time commitment. We ask that you meet weekly for the first month. EUSA will organise monthly events for all Buddies - come with your Buddies or on your own to meet others!
You don’t need to know everything. You are full of great tips and information for new students, but we don’t expect you to know everything. We offer some great resources for Buddies but if you are unsure – it’s best to ask!
We try our best to match you based on the profile you created, but no promises! We try our best to match you based on the listed criteria in the matching database, but we can't always accommodate everyone's requests. Edinburgh Buddies may be matched with more than one International Buddy, depending on your preference.
YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO PICK UP YOUR BUDDY FROM THE AIRPORT!!
Does your Buddy have visa and immigration questions? Unfortunately, it's a complicated system and Buddies aren't qualified to help with these type of questions. Try the great team at the International Office!

I'VE REGISTERED - WHAT NOW?
On registration, you will receive more information on Edinburgh Buddy support to be sure that you feel comfortable in your role. If you have an initial questions - do send us an email!
Read more about your role and meet the Buddy Team!
The Buddy Team will match you with new students as they register.
You will receive your International Buddies' email - be sure to contact them as soon as possible!
There will be a reception for Buddies on Saturday, 12 January at 6pm in Teviot - we hope you can make it!
