Scotland's leading cultural bible joins forces with EUSA to present a night of honest songwriting from across the contemporary landscape. The Phantom Band's venerable frontman Rick Redbeard marks a rare visit to the capital (and his first appearance at the Pleasance) with selections from his rough-hewn solo debut No Selfish Heart.

Having fallen under the spell of Nick Cave, Bill Callahan and Neil Young in his formative days, Rick has since twisted his influences into a perfect storm of Gothic folk. There can be no finer venue to watch it unfold. Joining him on the bill are Glaswegian garage rock duo Honeyblood, visceral Young Fathers affiliate Law and rising chanteuse Siobhan Wilson

Praise for No Selfish Heart:

“Avast ye landlubbers. There be treasure here!” – The Skinny

“Part folk, part krautrick, all heartfelt “ – Drowned in Sound

“A precious, timeless album” – The Quietus

“Its 10 folky epistles exude fuzzy, through-the-bottom-of-a-whisky-glass intimacy” – Mojo
